INTERSCHOOL ATHLETICS CANCELLED

Tue Nov 29 01:01pm

Kia ora whānau,

The organisers for interschool athletics, unfortunately, have had to make the very hard decision to cancel the event for tomorrow.

Looking at the weather (on many different weather forecasts) and the amount of rain we are meant to be getting tomorrow, they could not work around it.

We are very disappointed, as we imagine all of our tamariki will have missed this event for yet another year.

Keeping positive though, and hoping next year the sun will be shining for us!!

A huge congratulations to all of the tamariki that qualified for this event.

Ngā mihi,

Whaea Katinka

KiwiCan Fundraiser Skip-a-thon (Week beginning 28 November)

Fri Nov 25 10:12am

Kia ora Whānau,

As mentioned in the last school newsletter, next week our KiwiCan team will be holding a skip-a-thon to fundraise for their 2023 Community Project. The aim of this project is to place displays that represent and explain the history and impact our Ngahere has had on Te Kura o Roto Ngahere. Information on how our community will be involved in this joint project will be shared in 2023.

During your child’s KiwiCan lesson next week (28th-30th November) our KiwiCan leaders are asking that if possible each student please bring a gold coin koha (donation) to sponsor the tamariki as they take part in their Skipping challenge?  By tying the challenge in with the Kiwi Can theme of resilience, the goal will be ‘to try your best and to never give up’. All donations can be given directly to your child’s classroom teacher.

Ngā mihi,
KiwiCan Team and Forest Lake Enviro Team.

New long-term strategy for COVID-19

Tue Sep 13 09:58am

Kia ora Koutou.

You’ll be aware that New Zealand has moved to a new, long-term approach to COVID-19. These changes have been made based on public health advice and reflect high levels of immunity and declining case numbers across New Zealand.

This new approach will only result in minor changes to the way we operate.

The very positive news is that household contacts of a person with COVID-19 do not need to isolate, but instead are asked to complete a RAT test each day, for five days. Therefore, ākonga who are household contacts but test negative and do not have COVID-19 symptoms, should continue to attend. It is the best place for them to be so they can be engaged in their learning, and connected with their teachers, classmates and friends.

Mask wearing is no longer required.

All the other recommended public health measures will stay in place as we know they reduce the spread of infectious illnesses including COVID-19. These include ensuring our indoor spaces are well-ventilated, maintaining good hand hygiene, encouraging everyone to cough or sneeze into elbows and, most importantly, staying home and getting tested if they have COVID-19 symptoms.

Thank you for your ongoing support in protecting our community.

Noho ora mai

Whaea Chris
