School Update

Tue Nov 30 08:08am

While the Waikato is moving to Orange on Friday, The Ministry of Education has advised schools to continue to operate under our current guidelines at Alert Level 2.

Leading into the last day of term there should be no change to how we are currently operating.

We have established a Covid Response Team so that moving forward, planning for working within the Covid Protection Framework (Traffic Light System) will be done by this team.

Unfortunately we will not be having our Presentation Assemblies but an alternative digital version is being developed that will be shared for our whanau.

Classrooms and Cleaning
Surfaces will be cleaned regularly
Toilet areas will be sanitized during the day.
Classroom windows and doors will be open to ensure the classroom is well ventilated.
Equipment will be able to be used but students will sanitise before and after use.
Sanisation is required when students enter and exit the classroom
Entry to school. To stop parents and students congregating at the gate we are encouraging ALL students to arrive at school after 8.30am and to use the kiss and drop concept wherever you are parked. Myself and Matua Geoff will monitor the entranceways.
Hinton Ave gate will be unlocked at 8.30am
If arriving on Storey Ave all students must enter up the steps.
Road Patrols will be operating from 8.30 – 9.00am.
Once students can enter the grounds they will go and wait outside their classrooms until teachers let them in.

Exit from School:

To again stop congestion we will dismiss the students in house groups. This means that siblings are dismissed together. Parents are asked to stay in their cars.  Patrols will operate from 2.30 – 245pm

2.30 Hikurangi and all walkers and bikers.

2.40 Manaia

2.50 Taranaki

Uniform sales: These are now unavailable for the year as we are stocktaking as a requirement for audit.
Before and After School Care will be open from tomorrow morning.
Visitors:
The only access to the school site is the school office between 8.30 and 3.00pm.
All visitors must wear a mask when visiting the school.
While parents aren’t required to be vaccinated, all staff on site have met the requirements of the vaccination order

The last day of the school year is 15th December closing at 1.00pm.

Looking forward to seeing all students back to end what has been a really challenging year.

A Huge Thank you

Sat Nov 13 03:21pm

All whanau who have completed the survey I want to say thanks.

We will be giving students at least 2 full days of learning. This may increase in some spaces where we can create more groups within the constraints of the Health Guidelines. .  Siblings have been rostered on the same days.

Staff will be making the final rolls on Monday and be in contact so you know who needs to attend school and when.

If you have not completed the survey please go to the previous notice and complete it. I will accept surveys up until 7.00pm on Sunday evening.

All children year 4 and up must wear masks at school when they return.

Rostered Return to School – Wednesday 17th November

The government announced yesterday that schools will be open on a rostered basis from Wednesday 17 November and that schools are able to arrange this depending on their own circumstances as long as they comply with health advice.

The health advice at this stage is windows open, social distance, sanitise and sharing of equipment with heightened hygiene routines. . Groups of students must remain stable and staffing will remain constant with each group.   We are waiting on further health and safety advice to guide our decisions. One new rule is that year 4 to 8 students and staff will be required to wear masks.

To assist us in planning, we are asking you to choose from 3 options so we can determine how best we can meet everyone’s requests.

We are very aware that whatever our final organisation looks like, we will not be able to cater for all whanau wishes.

If your situation changes between 17th November and our last day of school (15th December) you will need to contact the Principal to request a change of your option.

The  3 options to choose from are;

Option 1. – Not returning to school – will continue learning from home.

We understand that some families who are anxious about sending their children back to school will decide to keep their children home for the remainder of the year. This will impact our decisions around how to structure the part time school options for those that do return. If you do decide to keep your child at home we will continue to provide online learning or a hard pack of learning.

Option 2 – Essential Worker – Everyday at school

If you are an essential worker your child will already be registered for bubble school and is currently attending everyday, this option will continue for your child.  If you are an essential worker who has been supervising your children but can no longer do this and needs your child at school everyday – choose this option.  You will need to verify your place of work.

Option 3 – Rostered Days – Part Time return to school

We will need to limit the number of students onsite at any one  time in order to meet health and safety guidelines. This will mean  your child will have rostered days to attend school onsite. When they are onsite they will need to follow the health and safety guidelines as noted above.  We can not tell you how this will look until we have your responses to this survey.

Please complete the survey by 3.00pm, Friday 12th November.

Extra Curricula Sports

Tue Oct 19 03:00pm

Kia ora e te whānau, this is an update on what will happen with extra curricular sports for Term 4.

Firstly, thank you to all those whānau who returned their notice of commitment to participate in a sport this term. Unfortunately, due to the current alert level and the uncertainty with sports going ahead within the Waikato region there will be no extra curricular sports for this term.

If you have any questions around sports please make contact with Whaea Calah.

Whanau Check in

Tue Oct 19 02:09pm

Teachers have now made connections with whanau by using either Seesaw or Google Classroom. This time teachers have provided ‘Choice Board’ activities that don’t require a lot of access to devices. As whanau you could look at a ‘Choice Board’ and decide on an activity together. Photos can be taken of the finished product and uploaded so teachers can respond to the students work.
The most important focus at this time is whanau. Only do what you can. Take care of each other.
We will continue to communicate with students in this way, this week until we know more about the reopening of schools.

Covid Update for Level 3 – Essential workers Children Only

Sun Oct 17 01:51pm

It has been busy determining the school process for the start of term 4. To be able to staff at Level 3 for students of essential workers, staff have had to be tested. Unfortunately as we are asymptomatic our tests don’t appear to be a priority however I have managed to staff the 2 bubbles required.

Therefore school will only be open for children of essential workers. I have used the database from our previous 2, Alert Level 3  periods and have communicated with them directly.

I will communicate with the school community once we hear the decision of the Government on alert levels tomorrow afternoon. Teachers have been asked to contact whanau but we will not be making decisions about distance learning until after the announcement.

Take care.

Ngaa mihi
