Kia ora whānau

Just a reminder that if you are dropping off or picking up students in the moring and afternoon not to park over driveways or on the grass verge of our neighbours especially on Hinton Ave.

These are not parking spots and residents need to be able to access their homes, so please be mindful of this each day.

School Fun Run: FAQ’s

Tue Jun 01 07:19pm

Kia Ora Whānau,

Here are some answers to those burning questions you may (or may not) have!

Things to note:

* The Run starts at 1pm from the Top Asphalt and will end on the field. You are MORE than welcome to come and join in the Fun.
* It is NOT a colour run this year but students are encouraged to bring clothes (mufti or perhaps a costume) to change into after lunchtime.
* Lunch starts at 12pm on Friday and will finish at 12.30 giving students time to change and then meet on the Top Asphalt for the start of the race and staff time to get to where they need to be.
* On the field, after students have crossed the finish line, there will be sports equipment. Please feel free to join in a game with the students as this will be a time for FUN and CELEBRATING the awesome fundraising efforts of those who signed up.
* At about 2.15, we will congregate around the outdoor stage for the Spot Prize Draws and to give out the Grand Prizes; best Teina fundraiser, best Waenga fundraiser and best Tuakana Fundraiser.
* Please enter into the mood of the event. It is a FUN RUN afterall but PLEASE also be mindful of the health and safety of our students; your children. If a staff member asks you to be somewhere or do something, please do as you’re asked. Our job is to give your children back to you in ONE piece and we take that very seriously. 🙂

My heartfelt thanks go out to all of you who have got involved in this fundraising campaign, supporting and encouraging your children to fundraise shamelessly for the good of our Kura. Your efforts have been SEEN and MASSIVELY appreciated. Our school communitiy is an incredible group of Whānau and Friends and we are glad that you are a part of it!!

See you Friday!

SCHOOL FUN RUN SIGN UP ADDRESS

Thu May 27 09:32pm

Kia Ora Whānau,

Some of you have been in touch saying that you are having trouble setting up an account for your child. Firstly, thank you for trying to get this done. Secondly, thank you for bringing this confusion to our attention.

We are NOT using SchoolFunRun (the company) as our business partner this year.

Our business partner this year is RaiseIt.

The address to type into your internet browser is:

forestlakeschool.raiseit.co.nz

There is no “www” as it is NOT a World Wide Web page you are trying to access.

Attached is a picture of what you should see once you have typed the correct address into your internet browser.

I hope this clarifies any confusion.

School Fun Run 2021

Mon May 17 07:50pm

Kia Ora Whānau,

Today we launched our 2021 School Fun Run Fundraising Campaign. In 3 short weeks we will be running laps having raised what we can from the kind donations of Friends and Whānau.

A letter went home with your Tamariki this afternoon. If they didn’t hand it to you, it is probably carefully hidden in the bottom of their bag. Can you please check?

On this letter is everything you need to know about how to register your child online so that they can receive donations. Head to forestlakeschool.raiseit.co.nz to look at the website. It’s EASY!

And, if your child cannot have an online presence, the letter outlines how to go about receiving cash donations.

There are FANTASTIC spot prizes up for grabs just for registering online and for students with new donations each day. There are Pizza Parties, extended playtimes and Movie afternoons for the Hubs and Classes who raise the most money for our Kura.

At the end of it all there are 3 Grand prizes: one for the best Teina fundraiser. One for the best Waenga Fundraiser and One for the best Tuakana Fundraiser.

BE IN IT TO WIN IT!!

Tuakana Production Rehearsals: Term 2

Sun May 02 08:54pm

Kia Ora Whānau,

Just a quick note to say that after school rehearsals for Production will start in week 2 of this term. They will take place on Monday / Wednesday / Friday in the hall from 3pm – 5pm.

Students will NOT all be required on all of these days, all the time and so a rehearsal schedule will go home early week 1 so that you can piece together when your child is required.

I will try to keep the rehearsal schedule consistent where possible throughout the term.

If your child is definitely UNAVAILABLE on one of these three days, please email me (matthewt@forestlake.school.nz) and let me know so that I can attempt a workaround.

TUAKANA PLAYGROUND FAQ

Fri Apr 16 04:04pm

Kia Ora Whānau,

Thank you to all of you who have returned your Whānau Voice Survey about the Proposed relocation of the Tuakana Playground and re-establishment of it as an Active Recreation Area…not just a breaktime climbing frame.

FLF are committed to consultation and communication with you regarding this project and so with this in mind, please read the following.

A number of you have expressed concern or asked questions pertaining to:

THE SIZE OF THE FIELD: After consultation with the contractor who will be carrying out the work if funding is received, the decision has been taken to put the Active Recreation course along the back edge of the field. This is the area that runs along the rear boundary of the school parallel with Hinton Ave. It will not have an impact on the size of the sports playing fields. It will be established 2 meters out from the fence boundary and take up 4 meters in width. (See PDF Map Attached). During break times throughout the school day, the field is hardly used. Our hope is that this project entices students out onto the field during breaks.

THE COST OF THE PROJECT: This project is still in the process of being quoted for. The intention is for the funding that we are applying for to cover the dismantling of the current playground, the relocation of the playground, the re-establishment of the playground in its new configuration and the addition of new equipment which is aimed more at younger students enhancing balance and coordination. We are able to apply for up to $60,000 in funding and once we have the quote, we will be in a better position to know exactly what Sport Waikato assistance we will need.

DETAILS AROUND THE PROJECT: In the office at school there is a far more detailed portfolio that shows the different parts of the proposed new Active Recreation course. You are more than welcome to come into the office and request this portfolio to have a look at.

HEALTH AND SAFETY: All work, including the design, engineering and construction will be carried out by professionals. The design was created by Urban Effects and the playground aspect of it has been created through their Playground sister-company Playground Centre. The dismantling and construction will be carried out by their Waikato / BOP contractor and his team. This process guarantees all work meets Health and Safety standards.

If you have any further questions regarding this project, plese do not hesitate to get in touch: matthewt@forestlake.school.nz

Have a safe and happy holiday. See you all in term 2.

SCHOOL PICK UPS

Tue Mar 30 01:34pm

Kia ora parents/whānau,

We are experiencing some horrible weather which is suppose to be here for the next few days… this means we are going to see a very busy afternoon pick up time as you try to collect your child/ren. Please be patient, DO NOT park on yellow lines, footpaths or in/over residents driveways this creates an unsafe environment for our students.

Bring an umbrella and park a little further away then the school gate and walk in to collect your students (kids love walking in the rain) or arrive 5mins after the bell when the first wave of traffic has gone and you will find a park easier.

Thanks for your patience and keeping our students safe.

Ngaa mihi,

Whaea Chris
