When your child is absent from school, we ask that you let us know as soon as possible during the day.  There are a couple of ways you can do this.

School App

Download the SchoolApp here and submit your absence. You can download the app called SchoolAppsNZ for free from the App Store or Google Play Store. Then search for Forest Lake School.

You can phone the school answerphone service on 849 2256  to leave a message.

You can text your child’s absence to 022 381 8008.  Please remember to leave a reason for the absence.
When your child returns to school, please send a note to the class teacher.
In instances of an unexplained absence, we may get support from School Attendance Services (SASH) to assist in determining why the student is away, in the interests of student safety.

Known Absences

If you know your child is going to be absent (e.g. Tangi, overseas trip), we ask that a note be provided to your child’s class teacher making them aware of the reason for the absence and the expected length of the absence.

Late Arrivals

Children who arrive after 9.00 am bell must report to the school office to sign in.  Once they have signed in they may make their way to their room.

Leaving School Early

If for any reason, you need to collect your child from school early, you must report to the school office and sign them out.  They will be called for over the PA system or their class phoned if the class has one.  School finishes at 2.45 pm and we ask that you do not take your child out of school after 2.30 pm unless it is an emergency, you instead wait until 2.45 pm.

If your child has not arrived at school and we have not received any notification as to why we will contact you by phone. In some cases, we will send out an SMS (text) asking you to please contact the school office in regards to your child’s absence. These are free to reply to so please do not hesitate to text back with the information we require.
