Absences

When your child is absent from school, we ask that you let us know as soon as possible in the day.  There are a couple of ways you can do this.

Phone
You can phone the school answer phone service on 849 2256  to leave a message.

Text
You can text your child's absence to 022 6749867.  Please remember to leave a reason for the absence.
When your child returns to school, please send a note to the class teacher.
In instances of unexplained absence, we may get support from School Attendance Services (SASH) to assist in determining why the student is away, in the interests of student safety.

Known Absences
If you know you child is going to be absent (e.g. Tangi, overseas trip), we ask that a note be provided to your child's class teacher making them aware of the reason for the absence and the expected length of the absence.

Late Arrivals
Children who arrive after the 8.55am bell must report to the school office to sign in.  Once they have signed in, they will be given a stamp to show their teacher they have reported to the office.

Leaving School Early
If for any reason, you need to collect your child from school early, you must report to the school office and sign them out.  They will be called for over the PA system or their class phoned if the class has one.  School finishes at 2.45pm and we ask that you do not take your child out of school after 2.30pm unless it is an emergency, you instead wait until 2.45pm.
If your child has not arrived at school and we have not received any notification as to why, we will contact you by phone. In some cases we will send out a SMS (text) asking you to please contact the school office in regards to your child's absence. These are free to reply to so please do not hesitate to text back with the information we require.
